The Laredo International Airport faces an uncertain future, and now the city is asking locals on what should happen with the airport. A workshop recently took place with City of Laredo officials meeting with people for ideas. Among them is Jason Hinojosa, a local land developer.
He was encouraged by the amount of people that attended the workshop to issue their ideas. Another developer, Kurt Kraus, said that the city needs the airport to continue functioning because of Laredo’s proximity to the border and being a port city. He says that the airport can be used for shipping more frequently in lieu of ships.
At the workshop, it was announced that the city will conduct a study of Laredo International Airport. They’ll try to find the most economical way to develop the airport and hope that it can be a moneymaker for the city down the road. Kraus is hopeful that the study will show ways to make it an efficient place.
