“You know, I’ve got wrinkles on my forehead and smile lines, but what’s wrong with that? I love to smile!” Despite her parents enjoying moderate success as actors with her father, John Aniston, even starring on Days of Our Lives, Jennifer Aniston wasn’t allowed to watch television as a child and didn’t actually discover acting until she was 11 years old. By then, her curiosity for the stage couldn’t be stifled as she joined her high school’s drama society and set her hopes on becoming an actress. Before long, she hit the streets of New York City where she worked in off-Broadway productions while supporting herself with odd jobs as a telemarketer and waitress. Advertisements:

Eventually moving to Los Angeles in the late 1980s, Aniston was virtually unknown in Hollywood with her biggest role to date in the 1993 campy horror film, Leprechaun. Luckily, things would drastically improve the following year when the head of NBC entertainment, Warren Littlefield, invited her to audition for Friends. Although producers envisioned Aniston as Monica Geller, Courtney Cox won the role and Aniston was cast as the charismatic Rachel Green.

With the show lasting for a decade, Aniston became an A-list star and Hollywood’s beloved girl-next-door as she landed dozens of magazine covers and topped “the most beautiful” and “sexiest women” lists around the world. Along the way, she also proved her talents on the silver screen with films like Bruce Almighty, The Break-Up, The Good Girl and Horrible Bosses while building an impressive $150 million net worth as one of the highest paid stars in Hollywood.

Undoubtedly the biggest celebrity out of the entire Friends cast, Aniston is already stunning with plenty of natural beauty to go around—so why would she need plastic surgery at all? While it may come as a bit of a surprise, Aniston actually opted to go under the knife long before she was ever a household name in Hollywood.

In 1997, Aniston admitted that, before Friends, she elected to have a rhinoplasty to repair her deviated septum. Her initial problems arose when she was playing sports as a teen and was accidentally hit in the face with a baseball, which broke her nose and made it difficult for her to breathe. Later, after having the initial break repaired, the Along Came Polly star opted for a second surgery that many argued was purely cosmetic. When James Lipton of Inside the Actors Studio asked Aniston, “That’s a broken nose?” She responded, “Sort of…Not anymore.”

Since then, Aniston has been a hot topic in headlines as many speculate she’s had additional procedures that include everything from Botox injections to breast enhancement surgery, neither of which has ever been confirmed. Confronting the rumors head on and denouncing any additional procedures, Aniston credits her youthful glow to a healthy lifestyle and a wonderful love life with her husband, actor, director and screenwriter Justin Theroux.

“I just take care of my skin, eat well and exercise,” Aniston said. “People lose perspective. I look around and see how bad plastic surgery and injections can really kick you in the a**.” Opting for natural and organic products to keep her skin moisturized and fresh, Aniston has admitted that there are a few procedures that she couldn’t live without. “I love lasers and Thermage (a radio frequency treatment) and Ultherapy (ultrasounds). I also like a good micro-current facial,” she said. In fact, those treatments and Aniston’s own beauty routine have left her skin looking so good that she had to wear prosthetic scars to help her look older for her role as Claire Simmons in the 2014 film Cake.

Prosthetic scars or not, the 47-year-old Aniston looks just as young as she did in the 1990s as many critics claim that she’s getting a lot of extra help from Botox even though the actress says she’s “not a fan.” One doctor, however, says that Aniston has had a similar injection known as Juvederm injected into her cheeks to make them appear fuller and firmer. Aniston immediately fired back, “I am not injecting s*** into my face. I think, ‘Oh god, if you only knew how much older you look.’ They are trying to stop the clock and all you see is an insecure person who won’t let themselves just age. Sometimes I wish I could beg the people I know, who I am very near and dear to, to not touch their face.”

As adamant as she is about avoiding injections and plastic surgery, it’s hard to say if Aniston has actually had any other work done beyond her rhinoplasty. With ongoing rants about ultrasound therapy and facial wraps, we certainly won’t hold our breaths for a confession anytime soon. In the meantime, Hollywood’s favorite “friend” is definitely staying busy as an actress and producer with a few projects in the works including the highly anticipated film Office Christmas Party, which is set to release in 2017.
