“What's my motto when it comes to money? Don't put so much emphasis on it!” Escaping years of physical and verbal abuse from her father, Janice Dickinson packed her bags in the 1970s and left her childhood home in Hollywood, Florida and set out for New York City to pursue her dreams of modeling. Despite winning her first national competition as “Miss High Fashion Model,” adversity wasn’t completely in the past for Dickinson who, because of her dark hair and brown eyes, struggled to find work in an industry dominated by blue-eyed blondes.Advertisements:

Refusing to give up, Dickinson was in her 20s when her exotic looks were finally discovered and she was picked up by an agent, Wilhelmina Cooper. Before long, she found herself in Paris, France where her ethnic beauty was widely praised and embraced as she secured her spot as one of the biggest names in the industry before finally returning to the Big Apple. Once she was home, Dickinson claimed to be the “world’s first supermodel” as she secured dozens of covers on magazines like Harper’s Bazaar, Cosmopolitan and Vogue while working with top designers like Oscar de la Renta, Calvin Klein and Gianni Versace.

In the years since the height of her fame, Dickinson knew it was vital to sustain her supermodel status as she aged and turned to television to do exactly that. She joined America’s Next Top Model as a judge and mentor in 2003 and later appeared on shows like Celebrity Big Brother and The Surreal Life before debuting on her own reality show in 2006, The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency, which documented her newest venture as a modeling agent. She’s also written a handful of books with her first, No Lifeguard on Duty: The Accidental Life of the World’s First Supermodel, introducing her to a new generation of models.

Beyond using television to ensure her staying power in the industry, Dickinson has also relied on a team of skilled plastic surgeons to keep her camera-ready as the “world’s first supermodel.” Opting for her first surgery early on in her career to get a leg up on the competition, the 61-year-old Dickinson isn’t shy about going under the knife. “I am no stranger to plastic surgery,” she admitted. “I’ve had a face lift, a brow lift, tummy tuck and fillers.”

Dickinson also opted for a breast enhancement early on in her career, which just so happened to take place over 30 years ago. While most cosmetic surgery patients know that they aren’t supposed to leave their implants in for anywhere near that long, Dickinson managed to shock the team of plastic surgeons on Botched when she detailed her disastrous operating room story and confirmed her implants were over 30 years old. But, the surprises didn’t stop there!

The former supermodel was exceptionally open about her history of plastic surgery on Botched but that certainly didn’t make her any easier to work with on the show. Surgeons said that she was extremely difficult to work with and that the only ease in dealing with her was after the surgery when she walked the halls naked and demanding drugs. By then, it was clear that Dickinson had gone under the knife one too many times as people were quickly put off by her behavior and her appearance shortly after seeing her outburst on the show.

Aside from the procedures Dickinson has confirmed, many physicians argue that there’s far more to her $100,000+ plastic surgery resume. Renowned surgeon Dr. Anthony Youn said, “I believe she’s undergone pretty much every facial plastic surgery there is, including a face lift, eyelid lift, lip injections, Botox, fat injections and a brow lift.” Admitting that Dickinson has probably “single-handedly paid for her plastic surgeon’s house,” Dr. Youn couldn’t deny that Dickinson still looks good. “While Janice doesn’t look a whole lot like her previous self, she’s holding up pretty well…with quite a bit of help.”

With more and more people weighing in on Dickinson’s obvious obsession with her looks and possible plastic surgery addiction, her family even weighed in on the issue. Her son, Nathan, publicly begged her to stop getting plastic surgery leaving Dickinson to reply, “I won’t do any more plastic surgery…if he’s looking.”

Continuing to go under the knife even today, the 61-year-old Dickinson does have her regrets especially after being diagnosed with breast cancer in March 2016. “If I had to play my life over again, I would have never gotten breast implants in the first place,” she said. With her recent diagnosis, she told her doctors, “Take them out, cut them out! Just take them out now!” Ultimately changing her tune a few months later and asking doctors to leave the implants in, Dickinson is currently putting all her energy into radiation treatments and her battle to save the ta-tas.
